During the exchange program, students are immersed in an English-speaking environment, which not only improves communication proficiency but also enhances comprehension and expression skills.

Furthermore, living in a different culture provides a broader understanding and global perspective, developing adaptation, tolerance, and intercultural communication skills. Students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program.

Proficiency Levels

The Lumos curriculum, aligned with the CEFR, offers 7 levels of English, from basic to advanced. Each level includes 3 concurrent courses in listening/speaking, reading/writing, and grammar/vocabulary, completed in one semester.

OF LANGUAGES (CLT)

The Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) methodology focuses on the student and the practical use of the language. Unlike the traditional method in CLT the teacher is a facilitator encouraging students to define their goals and lead the learning.

READING

Reading is crucial to learning a language especially in educational or professional contexts. We encourage practice with authentic texts.

WRITING

Writing is key to communication in new languages. Our students practice with assignments and essays to improve writing skills.

What is the cultural exchange program?

Our cultural exchange program is designed to immerse students in the English language and U.S. culture through structured courses and hands-on experiences. Participants not only improve their language skills but also gain insight into American customs, traditions, and everyday life.

Who is eligible to participate in the program?

The program is open to international students who meet our age and educational requirements. We typically accept participants aged 14 and above who have at least a basic understanding of English. Although there is a minimum there is no age limit to participate.

How long is the program?

The duration of the program varies depending on the course you choose, but most cultural exchange programs last between 3 to 4 weeks. We offer flexibility to accommodate different schedules.

Do I need a visa to join the program?

Yes, students are required to have a tourist visa to participate in the program.

What type of classes and activities are offered?

Our program includes English language courses, cultural workshops, field trips to local landmarks, and social activities designed to foster cross-cultural understanding and networking opportunities. In total a student will have 80 classroom hours during their course.

Where will I stay during the program?

We offer several housing options, including homestays with local families, student residences, and shared apartments. Each option provides a unique opportunity for cultural immersion. Typically in our program offered in Salt Lake City students will stay with local families while for our Orlando program students will stay in student housing.

What are the program costs?

The cost of the program varies depending on the length of stay, housing options, and additional activities. For detailed pricing, please contact us or check the pricing section of our website. Typically a 4 week program will cost $4,500 which will include all expenses except air travel for the program.

Will I receive a certificate for this program?

Yes, every student who completes this program will receive an international participation certificate from Lumos Language School detailing the amount of hours studies in the program.
